First Fruit Ministry
The biblical principle of giving the “first
fruits” arises from the people of
Israel taking the first fruits from the
harvest [what would have been the choicest
part], bringing them to worship and giving
them to the Lord. Here at Prince of Peace
we encourage “first fruits” thinking
as we give regularly throughout the year.
To be consistent, several years ago the
Congregation Council agreed that for each
bequest given to the congregation, we tithe
it and give those funds to gospel ministries
outside our walls. Over the years monies
have gone to seminarians for tuition, Ronald
McDonald House, PACE center for girls,
Homeless Emergency Project for a new freezer,
disaster relief and a variety of the Florida-Bahamas
Synod.
